A landscape showing features from sketches of the mountains
of Big Canoe and the southern entrance to the Appalachian
Trail at the Georgia's
Amicalola Falls State Park. There was nearly a 30 year hiatus in painting
mountain landscapes in oils before the one shown above was
done. Mountain Meadows (1977) was also inspired by vistas along the southern
Appalachian Trail in Georgia and North Carolina. The picture from the center
of the painting shown below is a view
of Sanderlin
Mountain.
